I think High Potential and Matlock with their 10M+ weekly viewers are the exception. Most popular primetime series are in the 4M-6M range. Then you have to address the actual number of episodes per season. Back in the six channel universe a season ran from September to June with 30+ episodes and very limited weekly preemptions. For the last several decades 22 episodes were the norm. Now 18 per season is iffy. Hence the introduction of the term "Fall Finale" to conserve what few episodes are available to last through the February and official season ending May Rating Sweep periods.
