It's an amazing story worthy of one those junk pickers shows - a guy buys a storage unit in California and finds an incredible treasure trove of never before heard songs by the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. And while they're likely worth a small fortune, the public will almost certainly never get to hear any of them.
"Among the unreleased tracks is one titled “Don’t Believe It,” which seems to reference the rumors that would circulate about the pop star in the media. The vibe and style of the song is consistent with the kind of music Jackson was releasing at the time. On another tape, Jackson can be heard explaining the intended meaning to a song called “Seven Digits” which references the identification number bodies receive in a morgue."
Another reportedly has him rapping with LL Cool J, the only known instance of Jackson using rap on a recording.
The estate of the late singer insists they're not interested in buying them, but maintains they own the rights to all MJ songs, released or not. And they have no intention of granting permission for them to be made public. Which means they may remain forever unheard by most of us.

There was a rap in Black Or White. Nonetheless, an interesting find. Were these digitally stored files or tape? If this was beyond the late 90s, I'd hardly think it was analog open-reel.

Those are DAT tapes. They don't age well, and the players for them are finicky. They're lucky they were able to be played at all.

Good rule of thumb - if you can get the format to play, make sure it's set up to copy immediately.
