I have to confess I've never heard about some sort of weird online movement to avoid hearing "The Little Drummer Boy" during the endless Xmas music period, but it's apparently a thing.
Now AccuRadio, an online service that offers hundreds of free music channels, is pledging to be a 'Drummer Boy'-free zone for the length of the holiday, as it offers Christmas songs on many of its channels.
"To aid participants in their quest, AccuRadio is launching a set of “safe zone” Holiday Music channels that feature all the festive classics listeners love, with one notable exception — “The Little Drummer Boy” is M.I.A. from the playlist. Hanson added, “We want holiday music fans to have a safe space to enjoy their favorite holiday songs without fear of losing the challenge.”
Sounds like a good idea to me, although for fans of the Bing Crosby-David Bowie version, it's quite a sacrifice!

I much prefer the 1958 version performed by the Harry Simeone Chorale. The original was recorded in July 1951 by the Trapp Family Singers and known as Carol of the Drum.

I will listen to The Little Drummer Boy over The Christmas Shoes at any time. Drummer Boy is fine, Christmas Shoes is like fingernails on a blackboard to me.
