For good reason. Before you leave for work at 8 am, reset the alarm on 900 for the next morning. Then, the next morning, you sleep through the white noise and are late for work because the station you've listened to for decades has gone dark. AM is just too risky. Imagine the lawsuits...

Not only radios, in the early 80s they teamed up with Sinclair and manufactured computers. I had one, really basic and you hooked it up to your TV, good times!
