When City TV was on channel 79, how many people could receive a clear picture from it without cable? Did many people outside of Toronto even know it was there?
Clear picture in West Oakville? Nothing but snow and that is with one of those flytrap style outdoor UHF antennas. No problem with 17, 19 and 29.

As I recall, the signal off of Channel 79 was very weak to most places outside of the downtown core. I was in North York at the time with a rotor and it was shaky sometimes and weak - even if you turned the antenna. But we could get it. (Not that there was much to watch in those early days!)

Absolutely. City TV debuted in Sept. 1972. The CN Tower wasn't completed until 1976. So they were definitely coming from somewhere else. And the signal was awful in those early years.
