A Brief History Of CanCon

Billboard Canada's David Farrell looks back at one of the biggest regulatory changes in Canadian radio - the introduction of CanCon and whether it was good for the biz.

(Actually I'm not quite sure what the point of this story is, but maybe someone here can tell me after they read it. It doesn't really seem to go anywhere. But maybe that's just me.)

Re: A Brief History Of CanCon

Writer appears not to be a huge fan of Cancon or the CRTC.

Re: A Brief History Of CanCon

I read this article yesterday in Billboard Canada and was going to post it.  But I didn't really know the point  the writer was trying to make beyond him not liking cancon or the CRTC. He exaggerated the burden on broadcasters regarding the regs.   Also he delved into sort of a fantasy politics thing, which made his article even more confusing.  Most important, Mr. Ferrell seemed to get some of his facts wrong.  So I thought it wasn't really worth the time to post.
