Game 7 Becomes Sportsnet's "Most Watched Broadcast Ever"

Getting double exposure on the CBC and City TV probably helped those numbers. It was also the second most watched NHL game in Canadian history, according to Numeris.

Re: Game 7 Becomes Sportsnet's "Most Watched Broadcast Ever"

CBC had 2,878,00 viewers and City with the ABC/ESPN simulcast had 1,083,000 tuning in.  I don't think this includes viewing on TVA Sports broadcasting in French.  The overnight ratings average minute total of 7.55 million will increase when this and any recording are added in.

Rogers has been waiting a long time for Stanley Cup numbers like these, with a broadcast reach of 15 million watching last night.

Game 7 numbers for ESPN/ABC averaged 7.7M viewers peaking at 10.3M around 10:50pm. The entire Final series averaged 4.2M viewers.

The Oilers may not have won the Cup, but they did eke out at least one Pyrrhic Victory. A Miami-based sports talk show host wanted to put up taunting billboards in the Alberta city, dumping on Edmonton for losing.

But he didn't quite get away with it. So while Oiler fans are sad they didn't get Lord Stanley's prize, they can at least claim a win over this.
