There was at least one live feed of CBC-TV on Gem, but according to the article below, the game is over for hockey fans. They can no longer tune into different series on the web, after Rogers - the rights holder for the NHL in Canada - put a stop to it.
According to the poster, the Corp. issued a statement indicating Big Red didn't like giving their product away for free when they could sell it to those interested in streaming it. "Viewers can still tune into CBC Television or stream on Sportsnet+ to watch the games."
In other words, pay up or be shut out if you're watching online. Given the penurious nature of the company, where no amount of money is ever enough, I'm frankly surprised they let it go on this long.

There are a few other options to enjoy live hockey from around the world in fact.
Those who log in to those sites can still enjoy the action for free
So take my word for it
As hard as they might try Rogers is not an impediment if you know where to look & choose to do so

The majority of the posters had major thumbs up for CBC's coverage of NHL hockey and the Olympics. The general impression of NBC's Olympic coverage is tape delay everything except when an American athlete has a good chance of winning a medal. The CBC does its best to carry as many events live as possible whether a Canadian athlete is in contention or not. As for NHL coverage, ESPN isn't really 100% committed to the NHL when compared to the effort and expense spent on the NBA and NCAA football. Many posters thought the HNIC broadcasts had superior camera angles with knowledgeable PBP and intermission hosts. A few commented on the frustration of having to subscribe to multiple streaming sites. Others suggested using what I shall describe as "Sites of Ill Repute" Something that I know our moderator personally frowns upon.

I don't believe in piracy, but I also believe you are guided by your own conscience. If this doesn't bother you, then you're free to do what you want. I personally do not use those sites, although of course I'm well aware of them.

Apparently in the US, Yankee fans would need to subscribe or have access to 6 different services to see every Yankee game. So far we are getting off very easy. But everyone knows good things usually come to an end

If you have a cable subscription you should be able to get this on Gem but you can't.

On that note, Rogers needs to knock it off with the crowd singing the end of O Canada in every commercial break and three :10 Loblaws credit card ads every time. Oh, and the endless stream of betting BS. That's all I'm hearing while my wife watches tonight's Hurricanes-Rangers game in the other room.

There's also the repetitious "Bronski Beat" opening for all the Scotiabank commercials played at every break in the first half of the game. Drives me crazy.

Bill Hicks was exactly right when he said "any performer who ever sells a product on television is for now and all eternity removed from the artistic world." Bronski Beat and Scotia can go to friggin' hell... goddamn sellouts. So can any "artist" or group whose music has been used in even one advertisement - more so if it's been used in ads for beer or cars/trucks/etc.
Getting back on topic, Rogers and the NHL (and whoever gets the Canadian rights when the current deal expires) can forget about getting my eyeballs going forward. Between repetitive ads, non-stop gambling talk and no reasonable means of watching without having some kind of subscription, this guy is saying "so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, GOODBYE!" Screw Rogers and screw Bettman.
