Some Local Radio Stations Change To An "All Eclipse" Format

A number of local GTA stations changed format for the afternoon to "All Eclipse All The Time."

Some examples:

AM740 went into an oldies orgy, including Moon Shadow by Cat Stevens and Moonlight Desires by Gowan.

CKTB in St.Catharines played a condensed "greatest hits" melody at the time of totality, not what you'd expect on a talk station.

And even CHIN AM got into the act, airing Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" at around 3:20 PM.

Over on the FM dial, it was even more consistent.

Q107 chimed in with Tom Cochrane's "Sinking Like Sunset" and Manfred Mann's "Blinded By The Light."

Boom 97.3 went all in with an "Eclipse" soundtrack afternoon. Here's a sample of their playlist as the totality approached.

One song that would not be recommended would be "Cheap Sunglasses" by ZZ Top.

Or they could have had Weird Al re-record one his all time classics, based on The Knack's most famous hit.

"My Corona."

Standing In the Dark by Platinum Blonde also comes to mind.

Bark at the Moon by Ozzy Osbourne
Midnight City by M83

I actually enjoyed the obscured by cloudy sky eclipse we got in midtown.
And now of course it's sunny out. Grrr.

As in "My Cornea"? Corona is a beer or virus.

I stand corrected, my apologies. Learn something new everyday.

Yes, but it's also a good drink to have when you're sitting in the sun!
