Famous 50s & 60s TV Shows & The Facts About Them You Never Knew

Some of the items listed in this rather long article I was already well aware of. But a few took me by surprise, including the fact the characters from the cartoon "Scooby Doo" were apparently based on "Dobie Gillis."

Or that Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry based the name "Klingon" on a real-life LAPD officer with a similar name.

Dabney Coleman as The Professor on Gilligan's Island? It might have been.

And why you'll never find 77 Sunset Strip on your GPS.

All that and more are revealed in this entertaining story about the weird facts behind some of your favourite old 50s and 60s TV shows.

Surprising Details from Your Favorite Shows You Never Noticed

Regarding 77 Sunset Strip, the building where Stu Bailey's office was located and the restaurant next door where he met many of his clients were both demolished in 2013. The restaurant which was open to the public was at one time owned by Dean Martin.

Not trying to be a stickler and only pointing this out to illustrate that sometimes these types of pieces contain errors.

I did not read every entry but picked out an error in the entry about the show "Hazel" which states that for the final season of the show the original Baxter's were removed and only their two children survived for the last season. The problem is that the original show only had one child. The second child was new to the show. Not a major issue and I'm sure most don't care but an error nevertheless.
