An HD radio signal is transmitted above and below the analog frequency.HD  radio transmits 2 signals .Currently both the upper and lower usually have the same power level.Some broadcasters want to increase the power one of  1 of signals to provide better reception where there is maybe not an adjacent channel to interfere with.In GTA with no coordination of signals could result in more adjacent channel interference of distant signals.1 FM station with HD radio can take space on dial of 3 analog stations.

WWHC reception is impossible in GTA as they co channel with Toronto station.

The game looked better OTA on CFTO than on Netflix.Sony 4k tv with premium Netflix.

Both of my TVs are showing the same issue with CFTO and CHCJ info  display.The problem is with OTA transmitted info of the current program showing  quote CFTO Programming and CKVR programming.Been like that for a few weeks.

CJWL 92.5 rating of 2.0 .There seems to be about 8 stations in Ottawa with less ratings.Odd they cant make a go of it in such a big market.

HD radio is such a spectrum hog.Wipes out reception on adjacent channels on each side.So 1 HD station takes up 3 channels.So an HD station on 96.3 wipes out 96.1 and 96.5.

Why not sell to CHIN radio to replace 1530.They were upset about not even knowing about 1150,610 sale.

I remember in Barrie the cable company was asking people to support their CRTC request to allow the use of  satellite signals from Buffalo for their cable system.

Why spend money for larger coverage ? 580 has good enough signal.Its CFCO that will loose coverage but pretty sure the advertisers are all local.Music needs to be on FM to survive.

They should just run CBC News network if their not doing local.

Can you imagine driving on edge of low power transmitter and have it cut in and out with main transmitter with a different commercial.You would likely change to different channel.Most  radio listening is done in cars, broadcasters need to think moving reception.This can only work if there is  no signal from main transmitter at all,like behind a mountain.

HD radio signals interfere with upper and lower adjacent channels so if your in GTA not much open spectrum to DX.

They should just use the entire HD bandwidth for the .1 signal and have the best possible sound quality.

The ratings for Hamilton are kind of useless with 70% listening elsewhere.

HD radio transmits in the adjacent channels above and below the actual frequency potentially interferring with 2 other FM stations.All HD radio should be equipped with HD reception off setting so hijacking can be turned off.DAB was a much better,wish Canada stayed with it.
