You probably don't know the name Pamela Hayden but you certainly know some of the characters she played on the world's longest running sitcom, The Simpsons. The voice of Bart's friend Milhouse, the bully Jimbo Jones and Rod and/or  has been with the show for most of its 35(!) years.

Now in her 70s, she's decided to retire from the comedy after so many years behind the mic. Her last show airs Nov. 24th.

Will those characters continue and if so, will they sound different?

Stay tuned.

Sorry, I had my VPN on and didn't realize. If you have one, it's worth setting it to the U.S. to have a look.

This was bound to happen. The show has been on the air for 70% of my life. The cast is not young.

A lot of the characters Pamela voiced are pretty integral and would be tough to drop entirely so I get the recasting approach. I'm sure they'll be looking for imitators or "sound clones" to preserve the characters' sound.

(Not) Shockingly, the show made a joke of this previously somewhere back in S9-11(?). Ned Flanders had a very obvious new sound for a line or two. It was both funny and jarring.
