At least three sources have confirmed the Democratic candidate for President of the U.S. will make an unannounced appearance on Saturday night's SNL. I imagine Maya Rudolph will somehow play a part, as well!

Stand-up comic John Mulaney is hosting.

AP Sources: Kamala Harris will appear on SNL in last episode before presidential election

By the way, don't worry if you saw this notice late and missed the appearance. Not only will it be on YouTube by morning, but it's bound to turn up on every Sunday morning show and newscast across North America.

Which is what makes it a brilliant move, just days before the big vote.

What do you want to bet that NBC brass or the SNL producers and/or cast will get bombarded with death threats after this?

Most presidential candidates do. Donald Trump did a take on Drake's Hotline Bling music video. Barack Obama showed up to a party wearing a Barack mask then took it off to show the real Barack. Hillary Clinton appeared as a bartender named Val, talking to Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton.

I wonder how they managed with security in that opening sketch. They have a live audience and they couldn't possibly screen them all in such a short time. Perhaps it was shot backstage?

And it violated 'equal time' provisions in Election laws. Lorne Michaels and NBC brass know this but did it anyway.

Looks like over time, the complaint has swung in either direction:

The sketch was risky, but it worked out.
But if it had been the slightest "off colour" or clumsily executed, it could have been disastrous for Kamala.
Luckily they opted to be a bit silly and cute, with taking the name, Kamala and applying it to others like dramala and fa la la.
Moving on....

That's rich. Trump is on FOX after every screwup this campaign to say he didn't say what he said. Yet FOX viewing zombies only hear an interpretation of what Harris said from Trump's PR hosts.

You aren't the only one who felt this way - including one of the FCC's own people (a Trump appointee.) But it isn't correct under the rules.

Could be that Trump was invited but declined. He does that a lot.

Nothing indicates that he was invited, but Trump does not go on anywhere he can't control.

Instead Trump accepted an appearance on the Fox Gutfeld, so-called comedy program, and of course was fawned over by the unfunny late night host wannabee.

There has to be a massive, adoring crowd for him.

I saw the Trump segment during the Nascar race. I assumed it was bought commercial time. I didn't think of the Kamala appearance on SNL. Good point. I will be glad when the dramala is over.

At the end of every NFL telecast, this voiceover is always played to indicate the official end of the broadcast. "Insert network thanks you for watching this broadcast of the National Football League" If the Trump time was before this announcement, it officially happened during Sunday Night Football.

Trump has been the host of SNL twice, first in 2004 during The Apprentice days and then again in 2015 after launching his bid to become the Republican candidate. With the dawn of the Culture Wars, I would imagine he declines any more offers to appear but he has been given equal time by NBC because of the Harris appearance: https://www.scrippsnews.com/politics/america-votes/after-harris-snl-appearance-trump-given-time-on-nbc-following-nascar-event
