This column from Radio World hit home with me. My experience couldn't be much different from the author's, and yet there was enough in there about his early days in the biz that rang a bell with me.

Especially the part about his first break thanks to an off-the-cuff family remark and that recurring nightmare where he's on the air and nothing in the studio is working, leaving him with dead air. 

I've had that one countless times over the years, although thankfully it never happened in real life. Has anyone else had the same dream?
