What terrible news.

I never met Dan, but I often used to send him links to articles I thought he could use for CRN and he always wrote back to thank me. I found his site excellent and I had no idea he was ill.

RIP sir. I really enjoyed your site and your contributions about radio. Your sign-off has come much, much too soon. You will be missed.

I never met him either, but we exchanged information and tips and I always found his reports valuable.

He will indeed be missed.

Dan was 72 and had been battling cancer for some time. Always enjoyed his market overviews and his monthly CRTC summaries that he posted on RadioWest.ca. A true radio guy through and through. Rest in peace Mr. Sys.

On the plus side (if there is one) I hear they get great reception way up there! Good DX-ing in perpetuity, Mr. Sys. I have it on good authority that in Heaven, the signal never fades out right before the I.D.!
