Heather Purdon quit to work for Brad Bradford. Chris Chreston quit to work in Markham's city hall.

They both see the future - and it's obviously not there. Another two talented people radio has lost. Didn't Chreston host a paid commercial show on the weekend? Who takes that over now?

I did that job...I would suggest taking up finish carpentry before applying for that gig these days...pretty much any job at Corus for that matter...unless you're part of an outside legal/accounting/hr agency team that will oversee its inevitable bankruptcy/liquidation...if I sound bitter it's because I am...fuck Corus.

Thursday (Oct. 16th) was his last day and Kelly Cutrara paid him a nice farewell at the end of her show on AM640, at one point tearing up. She didn't say where he was going, just that he was leaving radio. He'd been at Corus for 16 years and also got to say goodbye on air, a real rarity in the biz these days.

Chris Chreston may have a new job, but he's managed to keep his hand in his old one. He still hosts the paid time show "Your Life, Your Money," featuring financial advisor Kelvin Ramprashad, which has the odd time slot of airing "every other Sunday" on the station.

Interesting that he kept that side hustle in addition to his new job as "Senior Communications Advisor to Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti." Usually, when someone leaves a radio station, that's it. I'm guessing the fact it's an infomercial that brings in some revenue is the reason he's still allowed on air there.

I'm trying to think of a similar situation and the only one I can come up with is John Scholes, who left Q107 after 19 years on air, but still hosts the paid program The Employment Law Show on sister station AM640 and also on Bell's CFRB. (I believe a TV version is also on Global during the weekends.)

I have no real objection to his continuing the show. It's just odd that a guy who so publicly left a station still turns up on it. Doesn't happen a lot.

Although Bill Carroll, who has been out of this market for years, still shills for Frank Leo over on CFRB, so maybe it's not that unusual after all.

I would think him continuing to host would be weird had he been part of the Corus job cuts.

I've known several laid-off hosts/newscaster who continued the freelance infomercial hosting after being laid off...or even fired, and it is weird, especially when they're in the building.

Scholes hosts the Employment Law Show on 640, 1010, a TV version weekends on Global and CTV, and a separate weekday program on CP24. And the Disability Law Show for the same firm. Another former 640 producer, Ryan, continues to host a paid program (WeFindYourCar.ca) once a month on the station.

I believe he has his own production company that's been hired by the firm to help produce the shows.
