He was, at one time, the #1 anchor in American news. But when NBC's Brian Williams exaggerated his experience on air, he was demoted to anchoring the network's cable news shows and then left the company altogether after 28 years.

Now he's trying for a comeback and you may not believe where. Reports indicate the veteran broadcaster is close to signing a deal to front Amazon Prime's coverage of the upcoming Nov. 5th U.S. election. It will be a lot different than what he's used to - the method of calculating the votes and the presentation will be limited and so will the resources he has available.

But if it happens, it will be an old familiar face on camera who brings it to viewers.

'The program would be different from traditional election coverage. The operation supporting Williams would not have a decision desk that examines data and calls winners. Prime Video would depend on the state-by-state calls made by the Associated Press."

Deadline today had a bit on Brian Williams:

Brian Williams’ Amazon Election Night Special Signals Streaming’s Emergence For Live News Moments: “It Might Be The Next Big Thing”

And The Ankler talked a salary angle:

TV News' 'Perfect Storm': Brian Williams' Humble Amazon $; Star Exits; Power Struggles as Election Stress Mounts

"On-air guests from news outlets including Axios and Politico will appear alongside Williams, who is fronting the endeavor for a mere low six-figure sum, The Ankler has learned. (In the heyday of his NBC News anchor days, it was reported he pulled down $10 million a year).

This is how weird things have become in the news business as this wild election cycle comes to a head. In an increasingly fractured media environment, the 65-year-old Williams has emerged as a fresh — even hot? — commodity with his return to a TV news arena that has forged no notable breakouts this cycle despite wall-to-wall coverage of the Trump and Harris campaigns since Joe Biden’s calamitous debate performance on June 27."

Well that's OK I suppose.  After all as far as we know he is guilty of embellishing being shot down or at in a helicopter.
I don't recall any other transgressions, and I don't remember him being accused of sexually assaulting women or anything like that.
Still stupid though that with his fame and experience he still could not help lying about the helicopter incident.  I guess he just didn't feel enough like a hero journalist.
Now, did I ever tell you about how I saved the Pope's life?
It was a dark and stormy night in Kyrgestan....
