Sept. 30th is the annual Day Of Reconciliation and if you turn the radio on that day, it will be almost impossible not to hear the annual "Day To Listen" campaign, which is going to air on some 600 radio stations. It runs from 6 AM - 6PM.

That's a Monday this year, so it will be worked in with regular programming.

More than 600 radio stations to air fourth annual ‘A Day to Listen’ broadcast

Good thing Charles Adler is no longer on the radio.

It's definitely going to be hard to avoid it, with it airing on so many stations. But with a few exceptions, (mostly the CBC) it will be short features throughout the day, more like a commercial break than special extra length programming. So it shouldn't be all that intrusive.

How ironic that we have a day to reflect on settler violence and genocide against the natives of North America and our government pretends to care.

All this while many reserves live in poverty and have unsafe water and to this day there are thousands of missing persons of indigenous origin; likely murdered.

I’m already aware of the trash policies of our government and already feel empathy for all those who have suffered. Perhaps this twelve hour ‘message’ is a little reminder for the rest of us.

Frankly, with the year radio has had in this country, I find it hard to believe there are 600 stations still around!

Our society needs more 'days of action' like this, perhaps locally and grass roots certified as our government is a mix of inaction and hypocrisy.

Next Day of action could be to re-align spending to solve the housing and homeless issue affecting every town nationwide.

According to Radio Connects, Canada has 2,789 radio stations.  However this is everything, rebroadcasters, low power, short wave, weather, tourism etc.  You will need to download to get the information.  Stats Canada had the number at about 950 stations which didn't count some of the categories that Radio Connects included.  https://radioconnects.ca/industry-info-3/
