I’ve noticed when listening to 680News in the mornings, the weather specialist/meteorologist no longer gives the current temperature in their scheduled hits “Traffic and weather on the ones”
It’s the in-studio anchor who gives the current temperature.

Does that mean the weather is pre-recorded???

As far as I can tell, only meteorologist Carl Lam always does his weather updates live. Maybe Jill Taylor in the morning. Otherwise, unless there's severe weather, everyone else appears to be pre-recorded.

That's why I like it when Lam is on. While others are predicting "a chance of showers," Lam will not only tell you where that front currently is, but approx. how long it will be before it reaches you. Now that's a good weather forecast. Pity he's amongst the only ones to do this.

Jill Taylor has just a terrific voice and great delivery.

Temperature can vary so greatly from one part of the city to another and most cellphones have the time/date/current temperature option on the main screen but not hearing any temperature given during the weather report feels....weird?

Pre-recorded radio is the broadcast equivalent of Velveeta cheese.

I like Carl Lam as well, but I am not sure all of his reports are live.  I have heard him on 570 CHYM Newsradio on the weekend and the breaks I have heard don't sound like they are live.

So why can't the news announcer give the temp?

Pre-recorded newscasts soured me at The Canadian Press and was a key reason I retired when I did.
