An Old "Law & Order" Returns To NBC Thursdays - What Does City TV Do?

It's only been about a year since NBC moved "Law & Order: Organized Crime" off the network and over to its pay Peacock streaming service. It wasn't shown on free TV.

But it will come this fall. NBC has confirmed its "Law & Order" Thursday is coming back, returning the unseen-on-free-TV episodes in its former 10 PM time slot.

When "Organized Crime" disappeared from over-the-air, it allowed City TV to move its "Law & Order Toronto" into the final primetime hour. Now the question is: will they show the returning "OC" as a simulcast or move "Toronto" somewhere else? (It used to air at 7 PM before the Peacock move.)

It's an interesting dilemma for Rogers' programmers - keep the Canadian hit in primetime or go for the simulcast opportunity. My bet? "Toronto" will go back to 7 PM if City decides to go in pattern with NBC. But I'm guessing the team here weren't expecting the curveball.

Actually, City TV ran Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent in the 8pm timeslot during its first season and bumped the original Law & Order into the 7pm timeslot, which I thought was an unusual move.

I'm wondering whether City TV will air the uncensored version of season 5 of L&O: Organized Crime, which contained a lot of not-ready-for-U.S.-prime-time salty profanities. Canadian OTA broadcasters are not hampered by the same rules, so it'll be interesting to see what City TV plans to do.

I have seen some of this season's Organized Crime episodes online via CITY. They are not edited for language.

Like Paul mentioned, I don't remember Law & Order Toronto running at 7pm.  The first season it was scheduled at 8pm and the US program at 7pm, so City gave up the simsub at 8pm.  Actually seemed to work out for them since the Toronto franchise had higher ratings.

I seem to recall it being placed at 7 at some point, so they could keep an entire simsub night intact. Either way, it leaves them with an extra show in the L&O franchise and not really a great place to put it.

Well, you originally commented how you were surprised that the Toronto Law & Order was on at 8pm and not the NBC original, giving up the simsub.   Maybe in the off season in repeats City may have run the show at 7pm on some nights but that was when the schedules were all game shows or repeats.
