It's one thing to hate a radio station and not listen to it.
It's quite another to try and destroy its main studios with a firebomb.
But that's what happened to an FM outlet in the small town of Swan River, Manitoba.
Cops there say someone on a bike came up to the main studios of CJSB, aka CJ104, lit an incendiary device and threw it through the station's window. A huge fire followed, destroying a large part of the facility, which also is connected to other Manitoba radio stations. All have been forced off the air.
Cops are looking for the culprit, but what's missing is a motive. (Perhaps they should have played the guy's request, after all!) Luckily, the place was empty when it happened, thanks to a scheduling change.
It's the first time I can remember deliberate sabotage to a Canadian radio entity since someone cut down an antenna from the CHUM Building when it was at 1331 Yonge St.
Hope they catch the guy. It's a small town, so someone probably knows who did it - and why.
