The veteran broadcaster has been part of the Buffalo radio scene for 50 years. He's just one of many who made it this year, although there are deserving others who didn't get the nod.

Another in the overlooked category is the late George Hamberger, who was at WYSL AM & FM, WKBW, WGR, WBEN, WGRQ, WZIR and Oldies 104 (WHTT) plus his lone non-Buffalo stop, CFTR.

C'mon,lett the Berger in!

I was at CFTR when George came to work there. He was excellent on air, of course. But I remember trying to ask him about his time in Buffalo radio. He absolutely refused to talk about it, which struck me as odd. I often wondered if he had some sort of regret but I never did find out.

He ended his time in the work force as a real estate agent back in Buffalo, still doing a Saturday shift on WHTT-FM. He passed away May 29, 2020.
