The Southern Ontario/WNY Radio-TV Forum / Gene Valaitis to host middays on CKTB

Gene Valaitis of Jesse and Gene fame announced on his Facebook page today that the sale from Bell Media to Whiteoaks is complete and he will host middays on 610 CKTB, from 9 to noon, starting this Monday.

Cant whate to hear the new programing.
I'm getting sick and tired of the boring old bell talkshows, so I swiched to 640 on 95.3 hd2.
Hopefully CKTB gets put on 97.7 hd2 or 3.

It's not a problem. It happens all the time. I'm lucky people put up so many posts here that sometimes you can't read them all! This one perhaps deserves its own thread in any case, given how big Gene Valaitis was in this city at one time when he was on Q107 snd CFTR.

& AM 640.
When the station went from top 40 to all talk, Jesse decided he didn't want to do all talk, so Gene stayed and Jesse left.
It became the Jane and Gene show.
A far more serious News/talk program (no more comedy bits)
I would LOVE to hear a special one time one day reunion edition of Jane and Gene, but Jane is probably too busy these days to be available. She's long gone from radio, moved on to far more important government related things.

I remember the Jane and Gene show in the early days of Talk 640. I don't think it lasted very long and Gene ended up reuniting with Jesse on Q107. He later also hosted weekends on 1010.

Yup. In 1996 Jesse & Gene were back, but by 1997 they were let go in favour of Howard Stern. Geez, the ratings weren't that bad, they just weren't where Q 107 believed Howard Stern could put the station.
Jesse and Gene should have been kept for afternoon drive, but nope!!!
I have not listened (loyally) to Q 107 since.
In fact, it's Howard Stern I have to thank for making me realize Q 107 really DOES suck, and 97.7 HTZ FM is where the best rock lives!!!
