He worked at both 680 News and the Fan 590 for years, before layoffs and illness took him off the air.

Geoff Rohomon will be a familiar name to those who listened to the all news station, but he's sadly making one last headline of his own. The veteran newsman has died after a well publicized battle with colorectal cancer.

He was only 41.

Former 680 NewsRadio personality Geoff Rohoman passes away at age 41

Very sad news. I'm the same age, and lost my mom to the same type of cancer in the late '90s; she was only 45. This is why I highly recommend getting a colonoscopy if there is a history of colon/colorectal cancer in your family... had my first "scope" in my early thirties, and the most recent one was three years ago.

A contract engineer I used to work with was a co-worker of one of the main techs at CTV Ottawa (CHRO & CJOH), and colorectal cancer runs rampant in the tech's family, so he has to go for a colonoscopy every year. The "prep" (guzzling all the polyethylene glycol solution to clear out your insides) and liquid diet are the hardest part of the whole experience, but you're rewarded with a nice nap during the procedure, when they knock you out with propofol sedation.

I've had several colonoscopies with sedation but I've never been knocked out by the drugs.
I found they just sedate you and make you feel a bit fuzzy but I've stayed awake all through.

Way too young and rotten that he was let go after medical leave, shame on Rogers. R.I.P. Mr. Rohomon.

I lost my father to colon cancer in 1997, and have had colonoscopies every 5 years. My next one is coming up in July. The last one was clear, but I have had several polyps removed over the years, one the size of a 50 cent coin that I felt them cut out before they knocked me out completely. RIP Geoff.
