I suppose she could be doing the show from home and it could be family noise. Or leakage from another studio if she's at Corus Quay. But it's very weird and very noticeable.

What could be causing it? 

It's just the sound of somebody trying to get a word in edgewise over the great interrupter.
 

The producer and technical director share the same space as Frankish. You are hearing background noise, which, in my opinion, is less irritating than Kevin's rambling about nothing. 640 misses Greg in ways it could not have predicted. The temporary host has no opinions, no pushback, no grit...nothing but smiles and happy talk for everyone who appears on the show. Blandness works on morning television but not a conservative talk radio station. I hope Greg wins his seat in Ajax, but hopefully, either way, this is a temporary host situation at 640. It is too good a station to start the day on a boring note, and Ben deserves a better lead-in show.

I heard that as well but I solved that problem because I stopped listening. I love Walter's comment about  'the Great Interrupter'. She was another reason to stop tuning in. Everyone is entitled to an educated opinion but when Ben says that you are a fool (paraphrased) if you don't vote for his guy, that sent me over the top. My comment is not meant to start a political discussion but simply the fact that you shouldn't insult your audience.
