I will miss CFOS on AM......when getting North of Steeles it is quite listenable...

I think the new Zoomer Owen Sound will give CFOS some big competition, especially when they are both on the FM band.. I will have to listen on line because it sure looks like the new coverage area for CFOS will be small.

I remember Bob Durant ( of 680 and 1250 radio) and how he ended his career at CFOS I hope CFOS will have good celebrations for its 80th anniversary in 2026 (and that CFCO in Chatham will have a celebration for its 100th anniversary in 2026)

Great Point-as the formats for both are very similar.

I've wondered since this started whether CFOS will change formats once it changes bands. Now there's even more reason to.

What would it change to? Also wouldn't CFOS still have the advantage of being a strong station with local history?

Rock or rock-leaning Classic Hits would be the natural transition, especially with the change at 92.3

CFOS celebrated it's 80th anniversary on March 1 2020, it will be 86 next year. I can see CFOS massaging their format somewhat but no real big changes at least for some time. Zoomer is the new guy, and CFOS is very well established with the classic hits/talk/sports/full service format. Zoomer does have the advantage that they are already on FM and CFOS won't be for a while longer. But CFOS has a strong morning show and local talk show/news department which Zoomer lacks. I think Zoomer could do well with some of their weekend specialty programming.

Both stations have issues with cancon with so much specialty music programming and the need to load up during regular programming. Don't know if this actually hurts CFOS in terms of ratings but it is something that they need to manage everyday. With CJOS time will tell since they have a similar situation.
