I can't think of a news days much bigger than what happened around the noon hour Tuesday, at least not since 9/11. It reminds me of the title of a recent Oscar winning movie - Everything, Everywhere, All At Once!
Press conferences from Justin Trudeau, Doug Ford & Pierre Poilievre, almost all at the same time. It was so insane, that CFTO and Global both took Ford, while CBC Radio 1 had the Trudeau and Poilievre press conferences (for some reason, the latter's was entirely in French and as soon as he switched to English, they cut it off.) AM640 delayed it and played it mostly in full later on.
I don't envy the producers in those newsrooms. With many of the pressers taking place at exactly the same time, which one do you go to first? How do you cover it all?
It's an incredible news day and I frankly hope we never have to see another one like it ever again! But man, did it raise the adrenaline levels for those covering it all.
