An award winning writer, producer and director is working on bringing back three of the 60s most iconic (and sometimes really silly) sci fi shows, originally made by the legendary Irwin Allen.

If all goes to plan, you may soon be seeing new episodes of a reimagined Time Tunnel, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and Land of the Giants. (Hope they saved all those oversized props!)

Allen was the King of Schlock TV back in the day, but there's no disputing his shows were fairly successful, even if most did not last long. Of the three, I liked Time Tunnel the best as a kid and there's a lot more history to explore now than when it was made in the 60s!

When I was a kid I loved "The Time Tunnel" and "Voyage to the bottom of the Sea."
episodes started cropping up on Youtube and I watched some for old time's sake.
Voyage held up quite well and the sci fi effects were pretty good for their era.
Time Tunnel not so much.
One of the silly things about that show was no matter what era or place on earth they travelled to -- if far in the future -- everyone spoke American English.
Also nobody from any time seemed to question why Doug wore a 20th century suit jacket and Tony had a turtle neck sweater.

Something to look forward to, hurrah! This is why I enjoy the posts on the big yellow board.

If the reimagined reboots get decent budgets and the powers that be give Akiva pretty much a free rein, something that didn't always happen on Fringe, he's bound to make more Goldsman magic.

I found this nifty short documentary on the original Time Tunnel, the special effects aren't bad. The gams on the gals are very Mad Men.

Timeless was an underrated gem of a time travel show that was around a few years ago and it's worth watching if you're currently waiting on the next season of the new shows like The Diplomat and the start of the NHL playoffs. The Timeless pilot starts off with a bang as the gang tries to foil disaster on the Hindenburg and stop an evil plot to change history.

Those shows were interesting to 12 year old boys in the 1960s (I was one of them), but are boring, unwatchable nonsense now.  Who would want to see them again?

How can you judge the reboots when they haven’t been released yet?

My mistake.  I thought some streaming service somewhere that shows 60 year old TV shows was bringing back the original series.  Glad I'm wrong.
