The former weekend anchor was with Global News for some 12 years after departing CFRB. Now he's turned up on the CBC as its Breaking News correspondent. That's left Global with a big hole on its weekend show and it appears they're aiming to fill it.

"This role requires working dedicated weekends and the possibility of other shifts including days, evenings and holidays as needed."

Question: if things are as precarious as they seem at Corus, is this a job you'd want to rush into?

If you’re coming from a smaller market or broadcaster, this would be an opportunity for someone to get their anchor and reporting experience in (while they still can).

If you’re at CTV, CBC, or Citytv, it’s probably not something to leave your current employer for.

All broadcasting jobs these days are precarious at best. Let’s face it, how many times do we read posts about career broadcast personnel having been let go and getting out of the industry. Marc is one of the fortunate ones being able to jump ship to another broadcast job. Corus is having problems for sure, but Bell Media and Rogers Media are no safe havens. And the CBC is covered by us tax payers so they don’t sweat it as much!

I saw reporter Matthew Bingley filling in for Mark last weekend.
