Call me crazy, but I like game shows that actually resemble game shows. So these "reality" combined programs have no interest for me. Your mileage may differ.
Which brings us to NBCUniversal, which has just picked up the rights to a competition from France called "The Power." The premise:
"The format features 13 celebrities living together and competing in a strategic game while under surveillance of an Artificial Intelligence device called Delta."
Hoo boy. Another game show involving celebrities? I'll pass. Would this be something you'd watch?
You'll probably be seeing this on your TV in the coming seasons. They've licenced the format for not only the U.S. but the U.K. and Australia. Sounds like the execrable "Big Brother," only with more famous names. (I'm betting B- or even C-list "celebrities.")
Whatever happened to game shows that were, well, game shows? To quote the movie 'War Games,' "The only way to win is not to play."

I still occasionally watch The Price is Right. Fun to watch Mr/Mrs/Miss Front Porch try to win cash and/or large prizes on national television. Equally interesting are the stories that leak out about how contestants scramble to find the money to pay the IRS the taxes owed on their prizes. It can be substantial. Some take the less stressful option off air of declining their prizes.

If it's too much like Big Brother, CBS can sue.
Remember when ABC had a short lived show called Glass house?
It was short lived because CBS sued for it being too much like Big Brother, and they won.

Will not watch. If it's not Jeopardy!, I'm not interested.

I don't mind living safely out of the crosshairs of such dreck.
