There was news floting around in the ratings thread that we would know who's buying the Corus stations.
Who's going to be the new owner?

Read the last post in that thread.

It does not say who it is.
Is it stingray? is it quebecor?

Nobody who knows is going to post it here.

If you can, please let us know.
I tried googling it, but nothing came up that's published today.
I think its stingray.

I was referring to the post stating that the announcement was moved to next week. Settle down!

It has nothing to do with me. I was repeating a post from the winter ratings thread.

Boon! I know NOTHING. I don't work for Corus, have no inside track - I haven't worked in the biz since April 2023. I was just relaying to ScarBluffs that someone posted here that the announcement was delayed. See the link

I was just stoking the fire. There should be a sarcasm font.

Hahaha. Hope you get some money back Jody!
Has anyone heard any rumours who it might be? I wonder if it is the whole company or just part. If it is all of Corus they may decide to sell off some divisions.

That doesn't mean anything either way. It's just necessary process to keep operating in the meantime.

It's actually the opposite. This credit facility is extended to early 2027.... which buys Corus enough time to keep the business afloat while the CRTC & competition bureau approve of the takeover bid

Hope more stations don't get shut down in that time.
Radio still has a future, maybe not in AM but Canada should have stuck with DAB for that reason.
Look how well dab's working in most of europe.
On world dab, they had information that Ireland's now testing out dab.

The crtc should allow operators to own four FM's in major markets if they operate one of them as a news station with a minimum % of revenue spent on local/live journalists, etc. It's the only way forward for private news radio in this country. AM is long past it's due date in Canada, and if they can only own 3 FM's it makes it very hard financially to run anything but music formats..... my two cents....

Agreed.
The Crtc should have been smart and looked at puting news on fm or just stuck with DAB.
You could have as many stations as posible on dab and national coverige like times radio or lbc in the u.k

I argue that if a person talks, who cares if it is mono or stereo? A weaker FM signal in mono, not stereo would be the best place to dump a news station. Mono mode strengthens the signal.

It should be 4 radio stations, I don't think it should matter if its AM or FM. If they want to own 4 AM radio stations or 4 FM radio stations, I don't see the issue.
Offline
I sea an issue for smaller commpanies like rogers.
They will destroy the 4th station.
companies like whiteoaks should be alowed to own 4 stations for growth.

Which is what CBC radio one does.
