There was an excellent tribute to her at the end of tonight’s News Hour which included memories from veteran anchor Tony Parsons. She was recognized as a trailblazer for women in broadcasting. You can really tell how much she was loved in that newsroom.

That newscast had the highest share of any local newscast in North America.  The News Hour on BCTV was a monster when it was a CTV affiliate.  I don't know how it does today.

It's still #1 by a country mile (I think all of their newscasts are #1 by significant margins). CTV Vancouver has tried to beat Global BC/BCTV News on Global since switching to CTV in 2001, but they have not succeeded, and in some respects retreated - for example, the station made the decision to permanently ground their non-HD news helicopter in 2020 - https://twitter.com/PeterVogel/status/1223098926900764672).

While waiting for the Deb Hope tribute to air tonight, I was really impressed at how Global BC was able to fill their entire newscast with local/BC news this evening. They didn't have to rely on multiple weather segments (they only had 1 after 6:40 PM). They didn't even touch national/international news because they had so much local content.
