Jamil Jivani was the hot new talent feted by CFRB for a while - until he and Bell Media had a huge falling out and he was let go from his 7 PM evening show in September 2022 without any explanation.
Later, the two sides would claim very different reasons for the dismissal. Bell maintains Jivani's numbers were terrible and that he had a bad attitude. For his part, Jivani insists he wouldn't toe a "woke" party line the company insisted on and that's why they let him go. He later sued Bell for wrong dismissal.
Whatever the truth, Jivani is back in the public spotlight - but not on the media. He's running for the Conservative seat once occupied by former federal Tory leader Erin O'Toole. Which means if he wins, he could conceivably be getting airtime in an entirely different way - as an MP.
