It's the way Netflix started - mailing DVD movies to customers straight to their homes. While the company still stands, one aspect of its service is about to reach the end credits. The now-streaming giant has been mailing out discs to a steadily shrinking number of clients for decades but it has now announced it's ending its "movies-by-mail" offering in September.
What's amazing to me is that they were still doing this. I knew that's how Netflix put Blockbuster out of business, but with the coming of the Internet and streaming now an everyday thing, who knew they were still at it all these years later?
According to the article below, this was only a U.S.-based business and never spread to other areas of the world, including Canada. So presumably no one here will even notice. But what a surprise revelation, at least to yours truly, that as big as the company has become, it was still in the direct mail business all these years later.

I used to use Netflix for DVD's thru the mail. After 2 out of 3 arrived broken, I stopped.
