I don't mind Tim Hudak as a guest, but his show is pretty weak. Maddog did a nice job filling in. What happens to Ryan?

I so enjoy whenever Bendixon calls out Jerry Agar during a roundtable. Hearing Agar stutter, stammer & spittle is a joy to behold.

Kind of surprised nobody has mentioned this.

Maddog has posted on his twitter page that "he's back" as of Tuesday.

Hmmmm......... wonder where that would be?

I also wonder if this means a re-arranging of the deck chairs will be in order as well?

New show is called "The Rush" with Ryan Doyle & Jay Michaels, spelling the end of the rotating co-host idea, which I always thought was fairly suspect. It appears g121 and Peter the K were correct about Maddog's new gig in their previous posts.

It's not completely fair to judge a new show on its debut effort, but my first impressions are that beyond the new title and the new permanent co-host, there's not really a lot of apparent difference between this show and the Live Drive.

Jay Michaels' Jimmy Kimmel inspired Lie Witness News-type segment (telling parents and kids on the first day of school that the Board has decided to eliminate summer vacation next year) wasn't especially funny. And spending the entire first hour on schools and funding, hardly a riveting topic on the best of days, seemed way too long.

The Round Table continues at 5:45 PM (absorbing the old Christie Blatchford feature that used to run at 5:20) and the 5 PM hour remains commercial free, so it has to be asked - really, what was the rush to launch this Rush? After all the hype they ran about their new drive time show last week, what's actually new here?

I predicted this quite some time ago and put up with a bunch of abuse from someone who is no longer on this board. This has been in the works for many many months.

Is this change for change's sake? Were the drive numbers sucking?
I've always liked the "Live Drive" show name, and I found rotating co-hosts interesting; an easy way to keep it fresh. I think Ryan works best as the lead guy. I know it's only Day One, but I don't see any chemistry between Michaels and Doyle.

I can't help thinking back to when Barb Digiulio joined John Downs for the evening show and they changed the name. Anyone want to take bets on how long it takes before Ryan Doyle's name suddenly disappears from the website?

Personally, I hope I'm dead wrong on that one. I enjoy Doyle and Maddog has proven to be a really good talk host. Hopefully, it will stay like this for a long time.
