Geri Smith RIP

I’m extremely sad to report the sudden death of longtime CP/BN newscaster Geri Smith.  I worked with her for 25 years and always loved her company, both professionally and socially.  She was an outstanding writer and broadcaster and will be sorely missed.

I too, just heard the news. Shocking. Geri and I were classmates at Mohawk and worked together at CHEX. I echo Chris' sentiments - she was an outstanding broadcaster. This comes right after we lost another classmate, Sean Vedell, a few weeks ago.

Re: Geri Smith RIP

I only got to work with her for a brief time in Kitchener at CHYM but she was an amazing lady, great sense of humour and her work ethic was second to none.  Shocked by the news.  Rest easy Geri.

I only knew her voice but I would occasionally listen put BN on the cue speaker while I was working. I always enjoyed her delivery.

I also went to Mohawk with both of them and they were great to hang out with. Still too young.

The Canadian Press always does an obit when one of their own passes. Geri Smith is no exception.
