Orillia - CFOR 1953

Here’s an article and pic from 1953, remembering Orillia’s CFOR staff. Possibly a few of the names may be familiar to to YB members. The piece is in this weekend’s orilliamatters.com edition.

Re: Orillia - CFOR 1953

A lot of well-known names passed through CFOR in its heyday. Among them: Pete McGarvey, who is pictured in the linked story. He went on to have a great career as a newsman at CKEY in Toronto. So did another 'EY member - Tayler "Hap" Parnaby eventually became the news director of the Toronto station at 590 AM.

Another 1570 alumnus is still with us. I believe John Oakley started his career there sometime in the 70s.

This isn't the first time one of the Village Media papers has done a story on the old CFOR. This one involves two of their most famous voices and came out in 2021.
