Bob Reid, a frequent fill-in host and the architect of the longest running Friday segment on CFRB, "Touchdowns & Fumbles," all but disappeared from that feature for the past few weeks. And now we know why.
On Friday's Jerry Agar Show, he revealed he'd been in the hospital recovering from surgery, after donating a kidney to his ailing sister-in-law. Reid noted the operation was a complete and total success and that he's fine - and, equally important, so is she.
The woman in question suffered from kidney disease for decades. Once she got Reid's organ, she was pronounced completely cured, for the first time in her life.
A pretty amazing gift and Agar, in a coda to the story, gave him a well-deserved Touchdown.
I've always enjoyed Bob Reid's observations on the air. Now I have to say I like him even more.
