Research Shows AM/FM Still A Must Have Choice For New Car Buyers

New research shows a good 63% of car drivers still tune to traditional over-the-air radio, as opposed to streaming music or tuning in SiriusXM.

"AM/FM also remains the most important audio choice when consumers are buying cars. The study shows that nearly four in 10 participants (39%) say that they’re more likely to buy a car if it has an OTA radio, vs. 31% for satellite and 27% for Apple CarPlay."

I wonder if they asked about electric vehicles that won't include AM. The article doesn't say but it would be interesting to see what drivers think about losing access to a traditional radio band. EV manufacturer claims that it can't be done because of electrical interference from the batteries simply aren't true - a few such carmakers do offer AM and everything I've read says, while it costs a bit more, it works just fine.

I'm into this stuff, because my new car has finally arrived at the dealer and I'm scheduled to pick it up either at the end of this week or next. (Just my typical luck we're having an ice storm that's going to prevent me from getting it sooner!) It will be my first real exposure to HD radio and I can't wait to see how stuff comes in in my area and whether it lives up to the hype.

New Research Shows AM/FM Radio Remains 'Car Buyers' Most Important Medium.'

I have a portable Sangean for HD and it really is a clean sound.  Love using it to listen to Jay's games around the pool.

Sangean. Aren't thet great? I have eight different ones and none of them disappoint. They're really under-rated when compared to others like Sony or Grundig, of which I also have several of each. Sangean punches above its weight.
