Just like Mr. Alper seems to be called on by local radio and TV stations to comment whenever there's a music story, the John Tory scandal appears to have brought another voice back to prominence.
For many years, a lawyer billed as "Municipal Legal Expert" John Mascarin has been occasionally asked to comment on something going on at Toronto City Hall, as an authority on the sometimes-convoluted rules. And after this weekend's dramatic developments, he's literally been everywhere.
I heard him Monday on both AM640 and CFRB, he's turned up on all the major local TV newscasts and has quite likely been quoted in many newspapers on the inevitable "what happens next?" stories.
I don't think he'll be quite as ubiquitous as Mr. Alper, but expect to hear a lot more of him until this whole thing dies down.
