CBS To Replace James Corden With A Late Night Comedy Game Show

When James Corden finally exits his Late, Late Show gig on CBS in the spring (also shown on CTV here), the network has decided what they're going to replace him with. And it's not Carpool Karaoke.

The answer is a type of game show.

Yes, a game show.

At least a sort of game show.

In a major departure from decades of guests sitting on the couch plugging their next movie, book or TV series, the new show will be a retread of an old idea that used to air on U.S. cable network Comedy Central. It's called @midnight and it involves three comedians trying to come up with hilarious lines to questions from the still-to-be-determined host.

I had never heard of @midnight before this announcement, so I went to YouTube to look it up. And there are dozens of samples of it on there. After having watched a few of them, I can only say I'm glad I go to bed early. You can see one of them for yourself below. But beware. At times, it's absolutely cringeworthy.

My son and his friends loved at @midnight.  It won Emmys and hit 600 episodes.  It was for college kids.
