CBC Radio Show Goes Podcast First Before Hitting Air

It's not all that unusual for a podcast to end up on the radio. But it's not exactly the norm for a radio show to release all its episodes for the week on the web before they get on air. But that's what CBC Radio 1 is doing with its long running "Q With Tom Power," announcing they will be releasing five days of shows before they are actually broadcast.

The CBC is in a unique position to do this since it doesn't have to rely on ad revenue or people tuning in. But I can't quite recall a pre-release like this for a traditional radio show. Most don't go online until after the show airs at a specified time on a station.

The move also means audiences will know the full line-up for the entire week of shows, allowing them on-demand access if there's someone coming on they specifically want to hear.

That's not what it says.
"Now, the show, launching as a podcast-first incarnation every morning before airing each weekday on radio, will have upcoming guests that include..."

I understand that this is a big deal for the CBC but for the listener it just means the show is in your player at 4 am instead of 11 am.  Unless it gives the listener bonus content will anyone really notice a differnce?
