There is a growing move afoot in the U.S. to increase the power of HD channels on American FMs to make them more stable and more available and reliable for listeners. (That is, if you believe there are any listeners.)
Tests appear to indicate there isn't a problem of interference with other stations, but what might happen if the HD signals from Buffalo were to increase the juice? How would that affect stations on this side of the border, if at all?
It could amount to nothing. Or there could be some interesting times ahead.

They'll do tests to ensure it doesn't affect us and it won't, that's my prediction.

Currently, FCC rules allow digital stations that meet certain guidelines to operate at ten percent of analog power.
Yeah, doesn't seem like an issue. The only change we may notice here is being able to get WTSS's HD feed. Anyone know what's on its sub-channels?

HD radio already causes massive amounts of interference to analog FM stations outside of their primary market. In Mississauga: Hamilton 94.7 HD signal destroys Oshawa 94.9 analog signal and WNED 94.5. WTSS has Country on HD2.and Dance on HD3.

And that's really what I was referring to in my original post - the effect any power boost might have on those outside the areas where the contours don't quite count. How might those fringe stations be affected if Buffalo ups the power?
The post above shows there's already some effect. It remains to be seen if there will be any fallout - or if it will even matter outside the areas where interference has already been accounted for.

Dont see any issues and the analog portion would effect us already wouldnt it?

The HD creates noise on the side-bands beyond the analog signal. So a bigger HD signal, on, say WBLK could cause interference on CFXJ's analog signal.
