Re: Bayshore Turns On Two New Stations In Bruce Peninsula

Proof that local radio is far from dead.  The key is to be local.  The new transmitter and tower will help 91.9 cover all of the peninsula and extend coverage for The Bruce 97.9 (CFPS) out of Port Elgin.  The station has a great format and has been supported well by advertisers and listeners.  A 12 hour radiothon in December 2021 raised over $300,000 to buy a new CT scanner for the Southampton Saugeen Shores Hospital.

The other new station, CIBP -The Tobermory Information Station  is at 104.3 and is geared for local tourism.  They are in the testing stage for this station.

One day they hope to be even more local.

“Some day we hope that it’s grown enough in the market area that we can evolve from a rebroad(cast) to a full, originating local station,” Brown said.

The CRTC decision allows the new FM transmitter to operate at 91.9 MHz, about a 2000-watt service, the release said."
