It was a woeful Wednesday for many in the U.S., less than a month before Christmas, as three major broadcasters announced significant layoffs on the same day. 

CBS/Paramount was the least affected, turfing around 30 staffers. 

Meanwhile, the new owners of CNN are making news of their own, firing a still unknown number of employees and contributors, as the new regime looks to cut costs. 

And AMC, the network that's home to the various "Walking Dead" series, now has a lot more walking wounded. The company cut 20% of its workforce, which translates to about 200 people.
