A Look Inside CBC/Radio-Canada’s New Broadcast Centre

It's in Montreal, not here, but some may find a virtual tour of the new building interesting. It's state of the art, of course, but what else would you expect when taxpayers are footing the bill! https://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons3/laughing.png

Re: A Look Inside CBC/Radio-Canada’s New Broadcast Centre

Have you seen the Rogers campus?  State of the art.
Corus Quay?  State of the art.
Bell Media's digs? State of the art.
But when it comes to the CBC you want it to be something less.  Why?
And of course if they did cheap out you'd be complaining "Our tax dollars paid for obsolete equipment?  Defund the CBC!"
The CBC exists and will continue to do so.  Get over it, already.

These facilities are only going to be built once, so you might as well do it right.  State of the art, as they should be.

I don't disagree, actually. That line was meant as a joke, although it seems some did not take it that way. One of the hazards of typewritten speech as opposed to the spoken kind, I suppose. (Hence the emoji.)

The good news is that the digital equipment available today is likely cheaper than the old fashioned manual kind would have been. And it's more efficient.

Although I still believe editing reel-to-reel tape was something of an art form that is now almost lost to history!
