Lost To History: The "Trans-Portable" Car Radio

Most here are well aware there are a lot of things I don't know. And here's another one of them.

Has anyone ever heard of a "Trans-Portable" car radio? They were automotive radios that could be removed after you finished your journey and taken with you as a portable model, so you could continue listening wherever you went.

They weren't in every car, mainly Oldmobiles in the 50s. But they obviously didn't last long and by the time I was aware of cars and the radios that were built into them, they were long gone. Am I the only one who's never heard of them?

Here's a brief debrief about the long lost "trans-portable."
