I'm not sure I entirely buy this story, but it could be accurate. WMMS-FM is a very famous prog rock station (or was in the 70s) and they're claiming credit for spreading the word about the Cdn. band Rush down in the U.S. - and even with making them a huge success stateside. 

Not exactly CFNY, but you can sense it in the story.
