1310 Ottawa shutting down?

I have noticed lately that CityNews Ottawa is just listing 101.1 FM as a frequency.  They used to list 1310 as well.
Does anyone have information concerning Rogers plans?

They still address themselves as "CIWW 1310 AM Ottawa, CJET 101.1 FM" at the top of the hour.

I’m not aware, so is CityNews Ottawa simulcasting on both these frequencies?      If so, wonder which frequency gets better ratings.

Yes, they have been simulcasting on both frequencies.

Re: 1310 Ottawa shutting down?

How strong is the 101.1 FM signal in Ottawa? Maybe 1310 isn't shutting down, but instead about to become something else? Sportsnet 1310? That only comes to mind for baseball coverage though. I doubt they'll go all sports just for one sport.

The signal is very clear whenever I am listening around Ottawa.

Then it sounds to me like Rogers would like 1310 to be known for Baseball games and 101.1 for not carrying them?
Or is the game on both anyway?  (ie is "Citynews radio", or maybe a local input of some sort airing on 101.1 when a game is on?)

Re: 1310 Ottawa shutting down?

When CityNews Ottawa combined the signals I asked about splitting the signals and they said NO.
The stations do not carry any weekday games that start before 6 pm.

It's only been one book, but the AM doubled the FM, 1.7 to 0.8. That's to be expected so early, and it's also a diary market so you're depending on listeners tracking this correctly.

The 101.1 signal covers the market just fine in a car, but can be a challenge indoors from the eastern suburbs to downtown. It's improved somewhat since they went mono.

The sole marketing of the FM signal would be because that's where all the growth potential is -- they've maxed out the AM listenership. The AM will shut down eventually, but not now.

Re: 1310 Ottawa shutting down?

Rogers took a half-page colour ad out in today's Ottawa Citizen for CityNews.  It only mentioned 101.1.

What about the sports section?? Is there a "Home of the Jays" ad?  If they leave out 1310 for that...
