CHAB Regina celebrated their 100th anniversary back in April, but I came across this report that CTV Regina did on the station.  Some interesting photos and clips...https://www.ctvnews.ca/video?playlistId=1.6000182

That video included a picture of a CHAB-TV van, which had a bit of an interesting history of its own. That station, along with its satellite station in Regina were the first CTV affiliate in Saskatchewan. They were later bought by the CBC, becoming CBKMT Moose Jaw and CBKRT Regina, operations later centralized in Regina and continues to be the CBC TV outlet in Regina to this day.

Saskatchewan television has a lot of interesting little stories.  One that struck me was the fact that CKCK TV which was a CBC affiliate for many years (1954-1969) was also an affiliate of CBS with a secondary affiliation (1954-1970). Other than network news, private affiliates had a lot of leeway what network programming they would run.  I also find it interesting that Regina has three television stations that all have local news.  Global's CFRE-DT Regina manages 24.5 hours of local news per week, but Global in Ottawa has zip.

Global will never unseat CTV for national news until they get more serious about their operation in Ottawa.
